Sr. Director, Cisco Systems
Aamer Azeemi is currently Sr. Director, Cisco Systems. He plays an integral part in the Worldwide Smart+Connected Communities Practice based out of Bangalore, India involved in leveraging globalisation as a platform to innovate, build talent and scale the practice worldwide. Mr.Aamer joined Cisco Systems in September 2008 prior to which he was the Director,IT at Omniyat Properties., Dubai He played a vital role in helping Omniyat design their IT strategy for Real Estate. He brings valuable real estate industry experience to the Smart+Connected Communities Practice and passionately enumerates the role of IT in enabling seamless offices and cities.
He believes that growth, overcrowding, budget constraints and inadequate infrastructure is putting increasing pressure on cities, states and countries. Leaders of global cities and private companies are thinking of ways to improve infrastructure, create scalable systems and processes for economic growth, social development and environmental preservation. His presentation focuses on the role of technology especially the emergence of the "internet of things" where everything is connected, and an IP-network as the underlying platform, will play a significant role in building new cities, managing existing urban and rural communities and delivering citizen services.
Mr.Aamer Azeemi holds a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. After obtaining his MS degree he spent almost 11 years in the US working with IBM Global Services, SAIC and Freeborders.
He later joined Wipro, Bangalore where he ensured the IT infrastructure scaled appropriately to address the growth of the company from 16,000 employees to 51,000 when he left. Mr.Azeemi was also instrumental in securing the British Standards Institutes’ BS15000 certification for ITIL standards implementation for Wipro.
His dream is to build smart connected communities run on networked information providing integrated and comprehensive services to citizens as they live,work ,learn and play.
